Top 20 Best-Selling Cars In Canada - October 2011

2011 Toyota Venza V6 AWD Magnetic Grey Metallic
Unless the Hyundai Elantra makes up a difference of 2697 sales in the next two months, the Honda Civic will end 2011 as the best-selling car in Canada for the fourteenth consecutive year. Civic sales slid 17% from October 2010 levels yet the compact Honda still beat its nearest rival by nearly 1500 sales in October 2011.

The Civic's nearest rival? It wasn't the Hyundai Elantra. The Toyota Corolla took second spot in October. Incidentally, if Corolla sales were counted as they are in the United States - with the Matrix - then Toyota would lead both October's standings and the year-to-date results.

With some measurable 2010 sales to compare with current volumes, the Chevrolet Cruze is no longer contrasted with the Cobalt's yesteryear performance. Chevrolet sold 2361 Cobalts in October of last year.

You won't find the BMW 3-Series on this list of the top 20 best-selling cars in Canada. You will, however, notice the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, sales of which jumped 46% in October. The C-Class is one of three European cars to make the list. Eight of the 20 wear the badges of Japanese brands. 25% of this list is made up by Korean brands. There are but four American cars. 12 of Canada's 20 best-selling cars reported better sales this October than last. The market as a whole grew about 2% from October 2010's 123K sales.

Last month's version of this list can be viewed here. Last October's best-selling cars table is here. Check out October's American best-selling cars list while you're at it. GoodCarBadCar.net will soon publish Canada's best-selling SUVs list, as well as a table for best-selling trucks.
