Large SUV Sales In America - November 2014 YTD

2015 Ford Expedition
GM's full-size SUV portfolio, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV included, grew their November sales by 11% in 2014, and the four volume-brand nameplates owned 75.1% of their category, level with their share of the category in November 2013.

Long-wheelbase derivatives negated some of the gains made by the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, which jumped 10% and 14%, respectively, last month. Ford Expedition sales, figures for which take into account both the long and short wheelbase versions, were also up 14%.

Ford claimed 16% of the segment's November 2014 sales, up from 14.6% in November 2013.

That leaves table scraps for Nissan and Toyota. Combined sales of the Armada and Sequoia were down 11%, year-over-year, and their share of the category slid to 8.8% from 10.3% in November 2013.

Commercial Van Sales In America - November 2014 YTD

2015 Chevrolet City Express
In a slower month for full-size commercial van sales in the United States, the newest product was the top seller. The Ford Transit was America's best-selling commercial van in November 2014.

• U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings By Model - November 2014 YTD

Total full-size commercial van volume slid slightly less than 1%, however, and Ford's own full-size tally was down 11%. Ford's E-Series sold more often in November 2013 than the E-Series and Transit combined in November 2014.

Ford also led the small commercial van category with 2186 Transit Connect sales, a 5% decline. The Transit Connect and its two rivals, the Nissan NV200 and Ram Cargo Van, were joined by an NV200 twin, the Chevrolet City Express, in November 2014. 24 were sold last month, a number which will rise rapidly. Small vans accounted for 19.3% of the overall category, up from 14.9% a year ago.

Top 20 Best-Selling Cars In America - November 2014

2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
For the second consecutive month after a brief layoff during which the Honda Accord took over, the Toyota Camry was America's best-selling car in November 2014. The Camry's closest challenger last month was not the Accord, however, but Toyota's own Corolla, sales of which jumped 14%.

The Camry, third-ranked Honda Accord, fourth-ranked Honda Civic, sixth-ranked Nissan Altima, and seventh-ranked Ford Fusion all posted meaningful year-over-year sales declines.

Two premium brand nameplates cracked the top 20 this month. German rivals from BMW (the 3-Series and 4-Series) and Mercedes-Benz (the C-Class) posted notable improvements. Narrowly missing the top 20 this month were the Kia Soul and Dodge Dart, the latter of which achieved its best ever U.S. sales total with more than 9000 sales.

The Camry's presence on top is more than secure for the year-end race, as well. The Accord is 40,203 sales back of the top-ranked Toyota. The small car race will almost undoubtedly be won by the Corolla, as the Civic trails the Toyota by nearly 9000 units. Subcompacts are led by the Nissan Versa, which ranked 19th overall in October. The 3-Series' (4-Series-inclusive) lead over the C-Class is more than strong enough to carry the BMW to the top of yet another luxury car sales race podium.
