Large Luxury Car Sales In Canada - April 2016 YTD

Canadian sales of flagship luxury cars rose 10% in the first-third of 2016, a modest gain of 82 units thanks to sales increases from the sector's most well-known nameplates.

Although Canadian sales of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class tumbled 20% in April 2016, specifically, sales of the S-Class are rising in the early part of 2016. The new sixth-generation BMW 7-Series nearly tripled its April volume and is up 69% in the first-third of 2016.

Consumers interested in high-end luxury continue to be far more interested in top-tier SUVs. 

The Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class – just that trio – has already combined for 1968 sales in the first four months of 2016, more than double the total achieved by these cars.

GCBC isn't here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts. Sales data for brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Rolls-Royce etc. are unfortunately not made available in Canada. Tesla doesn't release a monthly Model S sales report, either. ANDC estimates for Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce were 20, 72, 56, and 28, respectively, in the first four months of 2016. Tesla sold 460 cars in the first three months of 2016. Total Maserati volume is reported, but not by specific models. GCBC shows the Cadillac XTS, Hyundai Equus, and Kia K900 with midsize luxury cars not because of their size, but because the price points are much more directly comparable.
