For the Dart, if ever there was a time to blossom, this is it, while it's fresh and bright and and oft-discussed. Yet Dodge Dart sales were 2103 units lower in January 2014 than in January 2013 after declining by 656 units in December.
January sales of the Mazda 3, meanwhile, were already falling a year ago. Compared with 2012, January volume a year ago was down 12%. Compared with those results from two years ago, Mazda 3 sales last month were down 32%.
Sales of the Acura ILX, Buick Verano, Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, and Volkswagen Jetta all dropped, as well, last month. As a result, compact cars were down 6% in January 2014. Joining the Versa among subcompacts with falling sales were all rivals save for the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio.

These tables are now sortable, so you can rank small cars of all kinds - compacts, subcompacts, city cars, and more - any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

* indicates a vehicle which is also shown in another GCBC segment breakdown.
GCBC isn't here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better, right? This explains why you'll see the Encore and XV Crosstrek are listed with small SUVs, too, and the Acura ILX shown with mainstream cars is also displayed with luxury cars... because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
