Top 20 Best-Selling SUVs In Canada - May 2015

2016 Ford Explorer
The Ford Escape was Canada's best-selling utility vehicle in May 2015 despite a 1% drop and a 22% year-over-year improvement in the sales of its next-best-selling rival, the Toyota RAV4.

Even with those swings, the Escape finished the month of May with 1168 more sales than the RAV4. Year-to-date, the Escape is 2149 sales ahead of the small Toyota crossover.

Although May was a record-setting month for the Canadian auto industry, the gains compared with May 2014 were, at just 1%, rather slight. Moreover, the improvement was generated by a mix of particularly strong and particularly weak performances by a bevy of auto brands.

Evidence of those two poles is present in this list of Canada's 20 best-selling SUVs, where Jeep's record-setting 3312 Cherokee sales - a 50% gain - and a 145% increase for the Patriot, are contrasted with nine different year-over-year declines, including 21%, 33%, and 30% losses from the 18th, 19th, and 20th-ranked utility vehicles.

Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these best-selling SUVs and crossovers can always be accessed through the dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats page, and for those not viewing the mobile version of this site, near the top right of this page, as well. GoodCarBadCar has already published the list of Canada's best-selling trucks in May and will shortly publish a list of Canada's most popular cars.
