Canada Vehicle Sales By Model - April 2016 YTD
Canada SUV/Crossover Sales By Model - May 2016 YTD
Massive gains from the new Hyundai Tucson and newer Kia Sportage, Korean platform partners, generated an additional 2000 sales for the small SUV/crossover segment. Toyota added more than 600 sales with the RAV4. Mazda's CX-5 rose by 282 units.
Many of the losses in the sector, meanwhile, were not so severe as to not be fully explained by the shortened sales month.

Subcompact crossover volume jumped 37% thanks in large part to vehicles which were only just getting underway at this stage of 2015. The Honda HR-V, Fiat 500X, and Jeep Renegade were responsible for 1626 of the segment's additional sales in May 2016. Without them, the segment's volume decreased in May.

* vehicle also displayed in another GCBC segment breakdown
GCBC isn't here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why you'll see the Encore and XV Crosstrek are listed with small cars, too, and the pricey FJ Cruiser and Xterra with midsizers, as well... because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
