Large Luxury SUV Sales In Canada - September 2014 YTD

Canadian sales of Cadillac's regular-wheelbase Escalade jumped 173% to 120 units in September 2014. GM Canada also sold 33 Escalade ESVs, a 136% year-over-year improvement.

The segment-leading Mercedes-Benz GL-Class was down 20%, but at 199 units, the GL was still easily the top pick. 

Mercedes-Benz Canada's base price for the GL is a surprisingly value-conscious $78,500, but V8-engined GLs start at $109,900. Escalade pricing begins at $79,900 with a 420-horsepower 6.2L V8 fitted as standard equipment. 

Setting the GL apart is availability of a turbocharged six-cylinder diesel powerplant with fuel consumption in the city that's 24% lower than in the GL550.
